Good Evening Gentle Readers
I promised pie recipes so
here they are the first one is the apple pie
Apple Pie
2-1/2 Cups of whole wheat
flour
1 Table spoon sugar
¾ Tea spoon salt
I Cup of unsalted butter
cut into small cubes
8 Table spoons of ice
water
6 Apples
Cinnamon to taste
1 Teas Spoons Sugar
In a large bowl combine
the dry ingredients in the bowl and add the butter as you mix in the butter until
the mixture looks like coarse crumbs. Add the ice water a table spoon at a time
until the mixture forms a ball. Roll the dough out until you have enough to
cover a nine inch pie pan, press the dough into the corners and at the edges.
Peel the apples and cut
them into thin strips toss them in a bowl and then mix in the sugar and the
cinnamon place the apples into the pan and cover.
Bake for forty minutes at
425…
This pie was really good,
sweet but not too sweet. Cindy Lou said it tasted like Christmas…
Chocolate Pie
I made this one it was
sort of a lazy effort but with fantastic results.
1-1/2 Cups graham cracker
crumbs
1/3 Cup sugar
6 Table spoons of melted
unsalted butter
½ Tea spoon cinnamons
Combine in a large bowl
and mix well then press well into a nine inch pie pan and bake at 375 for about
seven minutes. When that’s done refrigerate for about an hour.
Here is the lazy part,
make a package of chocolate pudding according to the directions and put back in
the fridge for about two hours. Take out your now solid pie and top with about an
inch of cool whip, sprinkle chocolate graham crumbs over the top and back into
the fridge for an hour. Cindy Lou said this was the best pie she had ever had
and it was simple to make.
Tonight I am making a
Tourtiere because we are sitting at home watching the Canadians play hockey….
